Beckhoff at EU PVSEC 2012
Open automation solutions for the photovoltaic production

Beckhoff is exhibiting from 25 to 28 September 2012 at the international European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Frankfurt, Germany, and will present its range of solutions for photovoltaic production. With
PC-based Control, Beckhoff offers a universal and high performance control platform, with optimisation potential for the entire process chain of photovoltaic production:
from the production of the wafer to that of the cell and the module.
The tradeshow presentation will focus on the new software generation, TwinCAT 3, as well as scalable drive solutions. Beckhoff will present a further highlight in the motors from the AM8000 series, which require only one motor connecting cable for feedback and power, thus significantly reducing material and installation costs.
TwinCAT 3: efficient engineering and free choice of programming language
TwinCAT 3 enables optimal distribution of applications to the CPU cores and is therefore able to make full use of the processor power. Efficient software engineering is enabled through embedding in Microsoft Visual Studio® as an integrated development environment. TwinCAT 3 supports all common programming standards, including C/C++ and IEC 61131-3 with object oriented extension.

CX2000: Multi-core power on the DIN rail
The new Embedded PC series offers new options on the DIN rail. The modules are alternatively equipped with the following processors: Intel® Celeron® 1.4 GHz single-core (CX2020), Intel® Core™ i7 1.5 GHz dual-core (CX2030) or Intel® Core™ i7 2.1 GHz quad-core (CX2040). The stackable Bus Terminals support the connection of all common sensors and actuators for the precise acquisition of all necessary parameters. CX2000
Multi-touch panel for maximum flexibility
The CP2xxx and CP3xxx Control Panel and Panel PC series are characterised by a modern operating concept with multi-touch display and single-touch functionality as well as an advanced, elegant device design. The panel generation offers numerous benefits, for example an optimised price-performance ratio. As built-in or mounting arm devices, the aluminium panels are extremely robust and are designed for use under harsh industrial conditions. Widescreen panels in various sizes and resolutions are available in addition to the classic display sizes in
4:3 format. Multi-touch panel
Scalable drive technology: the Servo Drive in the EtherCAT Terminal
With its product range of scalable drive solutions Beckhoff covers a broad range of applications: from the EtherCAT drives of the AX5000 series for outputs of up to 170 A to the ultra-compact EL7201 servo terminal. The EtherCAT Terminal offers a solution precisely tailored to the required performance for applications that require only low power, such as the transport of cells between the individual process steps. Servomotor with One Cable Technology
The rotary synchronous servomotors of the AM8xxx series are characterised by high dynamics, energy efficiency and low costs. A highlight is the One Cable Technology, with which the power and feedback system are combined in the standard motor cable. The AM8000 are the ideal servomotors for the photovoltaic production machines, whether the production of the wafer to that of the cell and the module. AM8000
