1,440 exhibitors provided an up-to-date overview of the packaging market for about 35,000 visitors from Germany and abroad at FachPack, which took place from 24 to 26 September 2013 in Nuremberg, Germany. With an increased proportion of decision-makers among the visitors, FachPack confirmed its reputation as one of the industry’s most important European trade shows.
This year’s event was a successful one for Beckhoff, with a considerably higher number of visitors. The focus of the visitor’s interest was once again on the eXtended Transport System (XTS), which enables entirely new machine layouts to be realised in the packaging industry. Due to its modular design and software-based configuration, XTS is significantly more flexible than conventional systems and therefore easier to convert and to reconfigure. Anotherhighlight was the compact drive technology, the space and cost-saving combination of servo terminals and motors from the AM8000 series supporting One Cable Technology. A trend that has contributed towards the high demand for Beckhoff Drive Technology is the increased interest in electric drives that can be more precisely regulated and are more energy-efficient than pneumatic drives.
Frank Würthner, Branch Management Packaging Technology at Beckhoff, summarises: “The trade show confirmed to us that we are on exactly the right road with our solution for the packaging industry. The high speed and precision of PC control enables optimisations and cost savings within the entire process chain, and thus meets the urgent demand for more resource efficiency, in the face of increasing prices for raw materials and energy. Apart from our innovative drive products, our multi-touch Control Panels and Panel PCs for attractive and user-friendly operator interfaces were also in demand.”
