The 22nd Sensor + Test Measuring Fair in Nuremberg came to an end on May 21 2015. 548 exhibitors and 7,200 visitors from Germany and abroad congregated over three days at the industry meeting place for sensor, measurement and testing technology.
Beckhoff registered growing interest in its PC and EtherCAT-based measurement technology at this trade fair. One of the reasons for this is that EtherCAT has meanwhile become established as a fieldbus in the area of measurement technology. On one hand the real-time Ethernet protocol offers excellent cycle and synchronisation times and on the other hand a high bandwidth for demanding and data-intensive measurement technology applications.
Integration is the keyword for bringing together the worlds of automation and measurement technology. Beckhoff integrates measurement technology in the standard I/O system with a broad portfolio of EtherCAT measuring terminals. Martin Podrouschek, Product Manager Fieldbus Systems at Beckhoff, explains: "We are continuously involved in discussions with customers, where we identify a readiness to replace specific measurement devices with integrated Beckhoff technology. Our standard I/O components can often handle a significant number of measurement tasks at an excellent price/performance ratio as part of comprehensive test bench projects."
