Input characteristics for digital inputs

Due to the specific current consumption of the chosen sensor and the provided connection type (2-, 3- or 4-wire), different digital inputs must be used. The IEC 61131-2 standard defines three sensor types that differ in terms of current consumption and logic threshold levels. For processing the sensor signals the digital inputs are accounted. Inputs classified as type 3 are compatible to sensors of type 1. Further information on 2- and 3-wire sensors and the standard can be found in the Application Notes, which are available from the download area.
